It was founded in 1995 as a publisher, promoter and disseminator of works of art and design. Nerve point for emerging artists, connection and experimentation. Since 1997 the new headquarters has been a space, 250m2 with 4 exhibition rooms.
Galleria Arte Roma Design, was born in 1995, with the function of publisher, promoter, producer and diffuser of works of art and design of emerging artists and designers. Over the years, content of particular creativity and imagination has been recognized by both the Public Institutions and the media that have always followed with great interest the evolution of the Gallery as an important point for emerging artists, a point of connection and experimentation. Over the years, many celebrated characters in the world of painting, poetry, theater and cinema have approached the Gallery collaborating with their staff in numerous initiatives.
The first home in 1995 was a small 50 sq.mt space, located on two floors in the historic Roman quarter of Testaccio. Since 1997 the GARD has moved to an area of 600 square meters. between the Gazometer and the Pyramid Cestia, former industrial zone of the old river port of Rome. GARD thus becomes a multifunctional space that lends itself periodically to exhibitions and events of art, design and culture, alongside promotion and divulging activities to creative workshops devoted to manuality, with a special focus on experimenting with new artistic languages and the use of materials recovery and recycling. In January 2009, the walls of the new Gard office were sold, with great difficulty being decided to buy, triggering a remarkable mortgage. On 20 October 2011 the Galleria was hit by the flood in Rome and was forced to close for three years, to be renovated and restructured. In these three years, the Gallery has carried out three very important Cultural and Artistic projects in other locations: - 2012/ 2013 - CAE 2.0 (City of the Other Economy, formerly the Mattatoio in Rome) - Galleria Modulo M4, where a series of weekly exhibitions on ecological themes was held (Eco Art - Eco Design - 2013/2014 Premio Art Caffè Letterario in collaboration with Pamela Cento and in 2013/2014 Premio Art Roma in two locations - Abitart Hotel in Rome and Caffè Letterario in Rome. Finally, on 12 November 2014, Gard reopened its headquarters, different from before, a drastic reduction and a new arrangement of the spaces was necessary, to cover part of the mortgage. The passion, determination and initiative that has always distinguished it remain unchanged. Today GARD collaborates assiduously with Marina Zatta, manager of the historic former Cultural Association Soqquadro, with a 250-square-meter exhibition space, continues to organize exhibitions and collaborate with various artistic groups in Italy and abroad.
