Riccardo Aleandri

Riccardo Aleandri began his artistic research in 1973, focusing on tactile works designed to be experienced exclusively through touch. In the same year he authored the theoretical document “An Experiment–Proposal”, outlining the principles of this pioneering artistic direction. He created two tactile works, Involuzione–Evoluzione and Autocoscienza, and presented both the works and their theoretical foundation to Achille Bonito Oliva, who subsequently invited him to exhibit in the young artists’ section of Contemporanea (Villa Borghese, Rome,1973).
Participation in Contemporanea—today considered one of the most significant contemporary art exhibitions of the twentieth century—affirmed Aleandri’s conviction in his tactile research. In 1974 he was selected for The New Generation section of the 10th Quadriennale Nazionale d’Arte di Roma (Palazzo delle Esposizioni, 1975).
In 1977 Aleandri graduated with highest honors in Mathematics and temporarily suspended his artistic activity. The works from this early period are now lost, with only one photograph in the official Quadriennale catalog and a few surviving contact proofs by the artist.
He returned to painting in 1995 as a self-taught artist, participating in several group exhibitions.
In 2025 his works are exhibited in private galleries in Ariccia (Rome), Latina, Rome and at the Museo Civico Umberto Mastroianni in Marino (Rome).
Two large tempera panels are part of the collection of the Lazzaro Spallanzani Italian Experimental Institute, Rivolta d’Adda (Cremona).
Aleandri currently lives and works in Anzio (Rome).
