Jacopo Da San Martino (Viareggio, 1978) is an Artist-Artisan-Designer working on the boundary between sculpture, gesture and matter. His training began in the workshop and developed through traditional techniques (sand casting, metal polishing, hand-crafted processes) which over the years he has intertwined with contemporary tools such as large-format 3D printing and digital modelling.
From 1998 to 2006 he collaborated with Maestro Andrea Salvetti, a central figure of Italian radical design, taking part in the creation of artworks, installations and limited-edition productions. At the same time, he attended the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, in the Painting course of Prof. Omar Galliani, exploring the relationship between sign, gesture and the sacredness of form.
His path was then enriched by his time in Rome at Geografie del Dialogo ONLUS, where he worked alongside Prof. Enzo Orti and a group of artists and teachers engaged in visual research for the new Lectionary of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI): a period that consolidated his attention to symbolism, narrative and the ritual dimension of the image.
In 2026 he earned his diploma in Additive Manufacturing with Sustainable and Circular Materials at SMAC – Scuola di Manifattura Additiva (School of Additive Manufacturing) in Coreglia Antelminelli, deepening his use of recycled and natural materials in large-format 3D printing.
In recent years he has developed a body of research that combines territory, memory and material experimentation. This has given rise to works in recycled granule, sculpture-seats such as ACƆA, presented in Massaciuccoli and Vico Pancellorum, and graphic cycles such as Segni, Di-Segni and Tri-Segni, devoted to the symbols of Saint Zita and presented in 2026 at Caffè Santa Zita in Lucca.
His practice remains deeply tied to manual skill, to the mountains, to the workshop: a design that is born from gesture and matter, and opens up to new forms without losing its artisan roots.
