ARTIST STATEMENT
My pictorial work revolves around the creation of figures that oscillate between melancholy and playfulness, irony and fragility. These images function as visual fictions that invite reflection on the contradictions of the present, proposing emotional narratives with which the viewer can identify, be moved, or feel unsettled.
Through symbolic portraits, I seek to explore essential aspects of the human experience: vulnerability, humour, tragedy, ambiguity, and the existential condition. The narrative is not explicit but is built through gestures, compositions, colours, and textures that suggest rather than state.
The creative process moves between the spontaneous and the meticulous. Sometimes a work is born from an impulsive gesture; other times, from a patient and reflective search. Colour and pictorial matter—especially acrylic paint combined with other textural materials—play a central role in constructing a personal, expressive, and tactile aesthetic.
My work is influenced by a wide range of artistic references, from Renaissance masters to movements such as Surrealism, Art Informel, and Abstraction. These influences, incorporated through a self-taught practice, nourish an ever-evolving body of work where each piece is a step on the path to building a unique visual voice.
