Roxana Urra - Bio

Roxana Urra A. (San Carlos, Chile, 1967) is a Chilean visual artist based in Terrassa, Barcelona. Her work is defined by a profound sensitivity towards nature, the urban environment, and the human condition, explored through an introspective gaze that blends the figurative and the abstract.

A self-taught artist by vocation, her training has been independently developed through constant and rigorous practice, enriched by the study of specialized books and extensive research from digital sources. This process has allowed her to engage with a wide diversity of artistic movements—such as Surrealism, Art Informel, Abstract art, and the Renaissance—which have decisively influenced the evolution of her visual language.

In 2015, she won first prize in a comic competition organized by the Zaragoza City Council with her work "Terapia de Choque" (Shock Therapy). Since then, she has participated in various group exhibitions and developed personal projects in the field of painting. In 2020, she was part of a group show at the Centre Cultural Els Amics de les Arts in Terrassa. In 2022, she held her first solo exhibition featuring the pictorial series "The Animal We Are" at the same cultural center. In 2023, she participated in a group exhibition at the Impaktes Visuals gallery in Sabadell, Barcelona, and her work was also featured at the Swiss Art Expo in Zürich, Switzerland. In 2025, she participated in the International Group Exhibition organized by Zarin Galleria at the Helsinki Cathedral, Finland.

Roxana Urra currently continues her artistic production from her studio in Terrassa, focused on developing a body of work that navigates the dreamlike, the symbolic, and the expressive, all marked by a strong personal imprint.
