Spazio Eughen was born from a daughter’s desire to bring her father’s work back to light and to reopen to the city a studio that, for more than sixty years, had been a place of work, research, and artistic experimentation.
The studio of Eugenio Floreancig (1942–2025), an artist whose practice developed through abstraction and material research, is located at Vicolo del Bologna 36, in the heart of Trastevere. For much of his life, it was the centre of his artistic activity.
Within these walls, works, material experiments, assemblages, and processes of transformation took shape, bearing witness to an independent and rigorous practice developed outside market conventions, in a constant dialogue with making and with matter itself.
With Spazio Eughen, I aim to preserve and, at the same time, reactivate this legacy by transforming the studio into a place for research, exchange, and cultural production. It is an independent project open to contemporary practices, exhibitions, workshops, encounters, and collaborations with emerging artists and authors from different generations.
Deeply rooted in the fabric of Trastevere, the space preserves the memory of the place without allowing it to become fixed or static, instead bringing it into dialogue with new languages, perspectives, and creative processes.
Spazio Eughen thus becomes a place of continuity and transformation, where archive, territory, and contemporary research come into dialogue, returning to the city a living artistic heritage still capable of generating new relationships.
