Areta Gàmbaro, born in Palermo, is a multidisciplinary artist.
Her work has appeared in many forms in theatres and public institutions, art galleries, books and magazines, and is grounded in the precise pursuit of the clash with invention. She studied recorder and voice, crossing the fourteenth-century portal of the Conservatory again and again. Falling asleep with her recorder under her pillow, she moves from early music to the avant-garde and to the song form, thus stepping across the theatrical space. She was co-founder of e-theatre, the world's first online platform for theatre and culture, now extinct like many of her prolific animals of the future.
In parallel with her musical-performative work, amid colours, pens, brushes and digital tools, in the paradox between painting and cartoon, Areta patents sculptures made of polymeric materials, wood and iron wire, as well as animations and short films, with which she has won an audience award and been selected at numerous festivals.
She lives in Rome, and those who enter her home say it is a toy.
