Theatre Photography as Fine Art — Beyond Documentation
In my artistic engagement with the theatre, I have understood theatrical productions not as mere objects of documentation, but as points of departure for fine art photography. Through poetic transformation, the scenes are translated into autonomous visual worlds that reflect the multifaceted tension between light and shadow. My photography opens up a new space between the staging, my subjective perception, and the individual interpretation and reading of the viewer. In this way, a visual language emerges that deliberately detaches itself from the stage production and instead explores the essence of the theatrical in an autonomous artistic form.
Paths to the Image — Biography
Studied Politics, Philosophy and Sociology with a focus on Cultural Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Graduated in 2010 with a Diploma in Social Sciences. Since 2007, photographer for publishers, magazines, press offices and editorial departments, cultural institutions, theatres, performing artists and ensembles, as well as for the conception and realisation of independent artistic projects. From 2008 to 2012, editorial staff member with a focus on photography at the press offices of RUHR.2010, WDR and Theater der Welt, as well as at the cultural offices of the cities of Moers and Duisburg. From 2012 to 2022, worked at Theater Bonn, including as a freelance fine art photographer. Since 2022, freelance visual artist with a studio at the Women’s Museum Bonn.
Member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BBK) and VG Bild-Kunst.
Represented in public and private collections.
