Data and contact details

Curator and founder of /f urbä/, Simone Marsibilio combines a scientific background, curatorial practice and critical writing in a path dedicated to contemporary art and its processes.

Simone Marsibilio is an independent curator and founder of /f urbä/, a contemporary art space based in Guardiagrele (CH), Abruzzo, Italy.

With a background in science, he has developed his practice in the fields of curating and exhibition production, collaborating with artists, galleries, independent spaces and cultural institutions.

In 2022, he founded /f urbä/, an acronym for fondazione urbana (“urban foundation”). “Foundation” is intended not as a legal designation, but as the solid basis of an idea that communicates art; “urban” expresses its commitment to being inclusive, open and horizontal in its vision. His work encompasses a range of projects including solo and group exhibitions, artist residencies, site-specific projects and research activities.

He has curated and produced projects in various exhibition contexts across Italy, developing collaborations with Italian and international artists as well as public and private organisations. He also contributes critical texts to Segno, a magazine dedicated to contemporary art, through which he examines the Italian art scene, exploring exhibitions, practices and research trajectories that help define the country’s contemporary artistic landscape.

Simone Marsibilio’s curatorial practice is based on an interdisciplinary approach in which the tools of his scientific background enter into dialogue with contemporary art practices. Observation, systems analysis, interdependence and transformation are among the principles through which his projects are conceived.

His research focuses on the processes through which forms emerge, change and establish relationships.

Within this framework, /f urbä/ represents the primary space in which this approach is developed. The curatorial project is understood as a relational device: not an interpretative structure imposed upon artworks, but a condition capable of bringing artistic research, space, context and the public into dialogue.
