The event of October 24th will feature all the artists in the exhibition.

I present my latest paintings on the theme of Bathers, a theme that is particularly dear to me, through which my painting has evolved for years. The figures I use as subjects are not models posing but people secretly captured in their spontaneous movements. The space that contains them, increasingly simplified, emphasizes the profound expressiveness of their bodies, when on the beach, in a condition of rare freedom, they can express themselves fully, without clothes. The paintings are the result of an assembly work of the many photographs I took during the summer holidays. During the Roman art week, RAW, from October 21st to 26th, inside the Open Studio of Laura Grosso and Anthony Lombardi, some works by the participants in the collective "Della Pittura" are shown.

I present a series of recent oil paintings created en plein air during August 2024, which represents my ongoing exploration of the interaction between direct observation and artistic interpretation.
With it I intended to capture the essence of the Basilicata region, focusing on the landscapes near Lauria, Tortora, Maratea and Praia a Mare.
The paintings aim to convey the atmosphere that distinguishes these places through a careful study of color shades. Each painting, executed on paper, reflects my efforts to translate the fleeting play of light and shadow through the rugged terrain and coastal views of Basilicata.

The work that I present, in order to participate in this collective event, is nothing but the consequent evolution of an operational path that has remote origins. The ghosts are nothing but visible forms of what belongs to the invisible. They are the result of a disintegrating metamorphosis where the change involves the elements both on the level of form (Matter) and on that of light (Color). The theory of ghosts, already discussed in depth on other occasions, develops, taking shape, starting from still life; a genre that marked the beginning of my pictorial activity and that still today continues to influence and enrich, with ever new ideas, my work.

In harmony with the theme chosen this year, I looked at my paintings which - after many years - now appear different to me. The time that has passed has made me more interested in the message that the image can convey, in the obvious or hidden suggestions of the composition. Therefore I created associations by connecting together also details of different paintings to enhance the narration. I combined the many images - mainly landscape-based - grouping them under the names of the months of the year" these are therefore pictorial works (especially watercolors) reworked with digital graphics.

“The Greek islands are lands of myth, stages for the adventures of heroes and gods, the Aegean is a sea of wonders, a landscape of labyrinths and colossi and a storehouse of fantastic stories” (Giorgio Ieranò).
My painting attempts to describe the mystery that these forms arouse in me. I use a technique similar to Encaustic (oil and wax), where the wax is used cold. And this is how these ships are born and come to life, suspended like ghosts in the nights of the Aegean, full of secret stories, whispered fables, lulled by the waves and eager to tell…
This is how I evoke my memories, the night trips on boats, the routes in the Irish lands, the colors of Africa, the communication with Nature, the landscapes of my memory.
