LAURA GROSSO BIOGRAPHY
Laura Grosso lives and works in Rome as a painter. Many of her paintings have been collected together in private collections in Italy and abroad.
Born in Bari in 1955, she moved to Rome in 1966. Her professional training began at the art high school in Via Ripetta under the guidance of the painter Marina Poggi.
While still a student, she made her debut as a painter in April 1975 with a solo exhibition in the premises of the Sporting Club Teatro Margherita in Bari, exhibiting tempera on paper and canvas.
She continued her studies in the Painting course led by Alberto Ziveri at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where she graduated with honors in 1978.
Since 1980, she has perfected her study of the figure by drawing from life during rehearsals for Enzo Cosimi's dance-theater shows.
In 1985, she began her experience of painting en plein air in the Tuscan countryside around Florence, then in Chicago and finally in Rome.
From 1998 to 2008 the series of “Vedute Urbane Romane” was presented in various solo and group exhibitions by the Galleria di Silvie Andrè in Rome.
Since the early 2000s she has returned to the figure, initially using the theme of bathers, the series “Umani”.
Since 2019 the Baart Gallery of Bari has represented her in Italy.
