Roberto Cavallini
A photographer since 1980, he has collaborated with major Italian magazines. He has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions. He has collaborated and continues to collaborate with Tor Vergata University in Rome and with the magazine Succedeoggi.

Roberto Cavallini was born in Rome in 1950. He graduated with honors in Sociology from La Sapienza University in Rome. In 2000, he obtained a Master's degree in New Media and Communication with top marks from Tor Vergata University in Rome. He has been a member of the National Order of Journalists since 1996. 1980 He began his career as a photographer. 1983 He exhibited at SICOF in Milan in the collective exhibition “Sport in Old Age.” 1984 He collaborated with L'Espresso and major newspapers. 1991 He carried out his first photographic research on “Italian Video Artists.” 1996 He joined the National Order of Journalists. 1997 He exhibited a photographic exhibition on the Beat Generation poet and publisher “Lawrence Ferlinghetti” at the American Studies Center in Rome. 1998 He began collaborating as a photography critic for the “Media” supplement of the daily newspaper L'Unità. He exhibits the photographic exhibition “River Tiber - River Ganga” at the AOF58 Gallery in Rome. He exhibits in the collective exhibition “I volti della paura” (The Faces of Fear) for the Italian Foundation for Photography in Turin. He begins collaborating with the magazine Diario. 1999 He exhibits the photographic exhibition “PEEP - immagini di un insolubile conflitto” (PEEP - images of an insoluble conflict) at the Protomoteca of the Municipality of Rome.

 

2001 Teaches History of Reportage and Digital Image Processing in the Master's Degree in Photographic Languages at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome 2002 - 2007 Teaches History of Photographic Languages in the Degree Course in Media and Communication Sciences and Fashion Photography in the Fashion Culture Course at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome. 2003 - Participates as a photographer in the Rome International Photography Festival in the section Rome until tomorrow. 2005 - Exhibits his photographs at the Vittoriano in Rome - Salone di Maggio - Rome: Places and Colors. 2006 - Exhibits at the Fòndaco Gallery for the Rome International Photography Festival, the exhibition “1 Km. in diameter” . 2008 - 2009 - He teaches Photography Workshop in the Industrial Design degree course at La Sapienza University in Rome. 2008 - 2016 - Trainer in video, photography, and multimedia at ENDOFAP - Lazio 2009 – Curator, together with Professor Rossana Buono, for the University of Tor Vergata in Rome and the National Central Library of the Book, of the traveling photography exhibition in Rome, Prague, and Bari, "Prague, August 20, 1968 - A Private History," by Enzo Lattanzio.

2010 - Exhibits RomaSunuSenegal, an exhibition on the Senegalese community in Rome, at the Marconi Library in Rome. 2011 - Publishes the book Come uno sciamano - Intervista a Luciano Corvaglia (Like a Shaman - Interview with Luciano Corvaglia), Negativo - Positivo Edizioni Postcard. 2014 - Critical presentation of Simona Toscano's photographic exhibition Compagni di viaggio (Travel Companions) at Le Scuderie del Villino Corsini - Villa Pamphilij Rome. Participates in the Darkroom Project collective exhibition at Arles- International Photography Festival. Participates in the Darkroom Project collective exhibition in Stuttgart. Organizer, director, and screenwriter of the event, La Roma di Pasolini in bicicletta (Pasolini's Rome by bicycle), at the Centro Regionale dell'Appia Antica, under the patronage of the Ente Regionale del Parco dell'Appia Antica and the Municipality of Rome. 2015 - Organized and curated the multimedia event “Representation and Self-Representation” created with photographs, texts, and videos by ENDOPAP-Lazio students at Le Scuderie del Villino Corsini – Villa Pamphilij Rome.

2017 He participates in the collective exhibition “Il Mostro” in Arles, organized by the Tevere Art Gallery. He begins collaborating with the magazine “SuccedeOggi.” On November 9, the fanzine with his texts and photographs, “L'anno del verde ipocrita” (The Year of Hypocritical Green), produced by Monkeyphoto, is released. He begins collaborating with the Faculty of Tourism Sciences with seminars on cultural cycle tourism. 2018 He curates, together with Arturo Belluardo, the event Parole e Ombre - Un incontro tra letteratura e fotografia (Words and Shadows - An encounter between literature and photography). He participates in Buck Up and Cry by Barbara Lalle and Marco Marassi at the Macro Asilo in Rome. 2019 He curates the exhibition by Pino Guerra, “La voce degli occhi - Scampia. Viaggio fotografico nel mondo delle Vele” (The voice of the eyes - Scampia. A photographic journey into the world of the Sails) at the Marconi Library in Rome.

2020 Participates as a photographer and critic in the DarkRoom Project organized by the Tevere Art Gallery, at the Castello di S. Severa. 2021 Curates with Barbara Lalle the group exhibition “Il cadavere squisito” at the Tevere Art Gallery. 2022 Curated with Barbara Lalle the performance installation “Il Lato Oscuro del Desiderio” (The Dark Side of Desire) by Senith Genderotica at the Zalib space.  Held the seminar “PPP100 - La Roma di Pasolini in bicicletta” (Pasolini's Rome by bicycle) at the Degree Course in Tourism Sciences, Tor Vergata University of Rome. Published “Guardando Pasolini” (Looking at Pasolini) and “Perdersi a Venezia” (Getting Lost in Venice) in Succedeoggi.

For Rome Art Week 2022, Roberto Cavallini and Barbara Lalle curated the performances “Idem” by Daniela Carreras and “Quest'anno ti scrivo una lettera a mano” (This Year I'm Writing You a Handwritten Letter) by Laura della Gatta at Studio Campo Boario. In September 2023, Roberto Cavallini and Barbara Lalle curated the solo exhibition “Iquest” by Ineesh Chiluveru at the Goethe Institut-Zentrum Hyderabad. In 2025, he exhibited the exhibition event “Passeggiate Romane” at Agorart. On October 11, he will present the photographic exhibition “Anima svelata?” at Officinenove and on November 9, the photographic exhibition “La Roma di Pasolini” at the Scuderie di Palazzina Corsini.
