SottocorrenteARTE is an independent space and a transdisciplinary research hub located in the heart of Rome's cultural and industrial Ostiense district.
Born from the experience and conceptual architecture of an active psychotherapy practice, SottocorrenteARTE reverses the traditional direction of cultural engagement: rather than bringing the clinical context outside, it opens a private space of listening to contemporary artistic perception and experimentation.
The space offers artists an intimate, deeply meaningful, and furnished habitat. Artworks are not hung on anonymous white walls, but actually "inhabit" the rooms of the practice—among armchairs, bookshelves, and environments designed for dialogue and human connection. We offer the artistic community a critical and protected incubator, free from purely commercial logic, where visual production enters into direct resonance with the living material of analytical listening.
SottocorrenteARTE is thus structured as an urban and critical device where visual arts, photography, installations, and theories of the unconscious intersect. It provides the public with more than just aesthetic enjoyment: it offers an experience of immersion, extended pause, and reflective resonance on present-day dynamics, desire, and the social complexities of contemporary life.
