Metamorphosis of Emotion In Portraiture explores what emerges when a person interprets a real historical figure. The research begins with the intuition of a human affinity, a possible correspondence that takes shape through clothing, objects, light, and gestures. During the photographic session, engaging with another person’s biography becomes an opportunity to explore aspects of oneself.
The photographs focus on subtle shifts within the interpretation: a change of gaze, a hand raised to the face, a posture that gradually relaxes. In these transitions, the boundary between the figure being evoked and the experience of the person interpreting them becomes uncertain. The viewer encounters faces in which the reference to the character and the presence of the interpreter overlap, making it difficult at times to determine where an emotion originates. The sequence invites us to observe the moment when an intentional pose gives way to a personal gesture and the portrait becomes a place of encounter.
The video extends in time some of the gestures shown in the photographs. It introduces no new elements into the image, but develops the movement already suggested by the photographed gesture, giving it a possible continuity.
