3x3 = three CURATORS for three ARTISTS is the title of the exhibition of Emanuele Dragone, Fabio Mariani and Benyamin Zolfaghari, hosted by the cultural association TRAleVOLTE in Rome.

The exhibition project – curated by Michela Becchis, Maila Buglioni e Ivan D’Alberto – is the result of a collaboration between the Roman space and the YAG/garage art gallery in Pescara.

The title gives right away insights into how the event has been planned, namely according to a “anti-lab-logic” that has allowed three curators, each one with his/her own vocational training, personal experiences and working ways, to choose three artists belonging to different discipline areas and researching paths.

The concept of the “exhibition experiment” wants to produce a “multiplier” effect both in critical terms and in artistic terms. The exhibition is born from the chance encounter of three authors, and the encounter of their proposals will trigger useful aesthetic, narrative and conceptual dialogs, and will fuel visual experiences not defined at the beginning of the planning phase.

The approach carried out by three curators will pursue the aim to collect theoretical and critical considerations arising only after the setting up of the exhibition.

Also, the three curators’ decision of not to write about the work of the artists they did not personally choose but each one focusing only on his/her chosen one, contributes to give strength to this modus operandi.

At the end of the event it will be interesting to reflect on the visitors’ considerations and then the three curators will be able to verify how the multiplier effect has been realized.
