‘Becoming Mirrors’ is an installation that explores identity as an open, dynamic and continuously evolving condition, rather than as something defined and complete.
The mirror has always been part of the construction of the self-image: it captures a moment, returns a presence, defines a form. While the history of the mirror has progressively pursued the fidelity of reflection, ‘Becoming Mirrors’ interrupts this continuity. The surface does not confirm the image, but exposes it to variations, shifts, and overlaps.
Fragmented and misaligned reflective planes multiply presence. The image splits, recedes, emerges, disappears. It does not lose substance, but acquires depth. The fragment does not represent a rupture, but rather a condition of transformation.
Identity thus appears as something unfinished, composed of layers, experiences, and points of view that are continuously redefined.
Materiality enters the narrative as an active element: it alters, multiplies and opens. Reflection becomes a field of relation between image and perception, between presence and possibility.
‘Becoming Mirrors’ is this space of transition: what we are while we continue to change.
