For the spaces of Art Exhibition Link – Artists Studio Roma, Roman artist and performer Paola Romoli Venturi will present, on Monday, October 20, the site-specific installation ‘La Pace è stanca’, composed of three plates, along with related prints and audio tracks created during the sound performance held on June 29, 2025, as part of the chamber music festival I Tramonti di Tinia, for which a video will be screened in preview.
During the sound performance, Paola Romoli Venturi engraved the word PEACE onto three plates - two metal ones, made of brass and copper, and one made of plexiglass - all prepared with contact microphones, producing a sound that embodies the voice of peace, weary in the face of so many wars. After having ‘played’ the plates, they were inked and passed through a printing press, with the collaboration of Valerio Pucci, resulting in a drypoint triptych that visually captures the sound-based action.
Cutting is a form of self-harm that young people often use to express their inner distress.
Paola Romoli Venturi engraves words onto paper/skin as a way of expressing the pain and discomfort caused by both old and ongoing wars. On display are twelve cardboard panels with the word Peace engraved in different languages, along with four additional panels engraved with the phrases: ‘sono una lacrima’, ‘la Pace è stanca’, ‘la terra che tutti vogliono è terra morta’, ‘una pace disarmata e disarmante, umile e perseverante’.
The installation on view at Art Exhibition Link during RAW – Rome Art Week 2025 is an integral part of the exhibition ‘La Pace è stanca’, which opened on October 4 as part of the ‘Umanità?!’ project by Mesia Space. From October 4 to 31, the theme of peace will be explored through three performative projects by Paola Romoli Venturi: ‘Il gioco della Pace’, ‘ROVESCIARE confini’ and ‘La Pace è stanca’; as well as through interactions between different venues: MESIA Space, Art Exhibition Link, and the exhibition ‘Preziose Miniature’ at the Biblioteca Vallicelliana. The program also includes three talks: ‘Confini di pace e di guerra’ with journalist Giuliano Battiston, ‘Bum... Pam... Ratatatà... La Pace non può essere solo un sogno’ with representatives from OMNES… oltre i confini ODV, ‘Musica e Pace’ with composer Riccardo Santoboni. From October 28 to 31, the installation currently exhibited at Art Exhibition Link will be relocated to MESIA Space.
