THE FORM OF FEELING
The exhibition, like my entire painting practice, originates in a reflection on the body—not as an image to be represented, but as a site of experience, a means of knowing. This inquiry has been profoundly shaped by more than thirty-five years of exploring the body, first through the practice of yoga and later through the Tantric vision, which understands the body as an instrument of awareness and transformation.
Through the body, we encounter the world. We recognize the other, experience desire and intimacy, loss and joy. Before thought takes shape, the body already speaks, carrying a deeper language and expressing the most complex dimensions of feeling.
The works gathered in The Form of Feeling do not seek to define the figure. Bodies emerge from the painted matter and, at the same time, seem to dissolve, suspended between mark and stain, between luminosity and breath. The face, the gesture, the embrace become essential images, open to the viewer’s own experience.
Each painting in the exhibition is titled Residual Emotion, followed by a sequential number. These works do not correspond to different emotions; rather, they are variations within a single, ongoing inquiry: what remains when memory loses its contours and only the intensity of an experience survives.
As in memory, so in painting: form may become blurred or concealed without the feeling itself disappearing. Indeed, it is often what remains only partially visible that reveals its presence most powerfully.
In the construction of the image, an unexpected element often emerges: a color that disrupts the balance, a form that breaks away from the rhythm of the whole. This dissonance is neither accidental nor decorative; it is necessary. It arises from the search for harmony and balance through an openness to what cannot be entirely anticipated.
I feel the need to move within the tracks I have drawn for myself, while always claiming the freedom to derail.
The images I paint invite the viewer to enter them, to linger within a space where the visible does not exhaust meaning, but opens towards mystery—as another dimension of being. Every authentic experience contains something that resists definition, something that withdraws from language yet continues to inhabit the form, persisting as a silent residual emotion.
