Participating Artists
Nature is not an image to be reproduced, but a place to traverse, a material to question, a trace through which to connect with one’s own experience of the world. Francesca Mazzi, Susanna Moroli, and Paola Virone share an apparently common starting point—the vast universe of nature—yet transform it through three deeply personal sensibilities and perspectives. Branches, roots, leaves, flowers, skies, earth, and water are not rendered in their immediately recognizable forms; instead, they are destined to become something else: signs, textures, surfaces, layers, and memory. The exhibition *NATURALIS VARIATIONES II* thus emerges from a dialogue between material and gesture, unfolding through accumulations, traces, and dissolutions. These are distinct ways of intimately sensing and exploring nature, bringing to life and revealing the complex formations and sediments of their inner landscapes. Three ways of looking at nature in order to transcend nature itself.
ACCUMULATE – DISSOLVE – IMPRINT
Three artistic inquiries aiming for the essence of sensation: the substance of nature—traversed by time and surfacing from memory—reveals itself as a sign, condensed and imprinted upon the canvas, in a constant quest for its own form. Here, the viewer is invited to embark on a journey: to enter the material and color, lose themselves among the signs, and traverse the layers, ultimately recognizing a trace of their own experience within this nature transfigured by painting.
