Giuseppe Romano @ Rome Art Week
Giuseppe Romano
A figurative artist, active as a painter and designer, with an expressive and restless style, presents his sacred subjects in "ICONOKLASMUS" at Rome Art Week.
Data and contact details

Romano is a reclusive painter who has always kept away from schools, galleries, and collaborations. He finds his existential space within the four walls of his rarely-abandoned room, where, since childhood, he has found in drawing the only means to express his tormented inner self.

In 2017, he took up painting, in order to portray more faithfully his vision of reality. His symbolic propensity for animal figures, which informed years of nervous scribbles, has been supplemented by a study of the human figure, especially in his compulsive return to the theme of female portraiture.

In his most recent oils on canvas, Romano produces anguished sacred subjects, in which the evangelical narrative appears grotesque and distorted, yet never devoid of a sincere spiritual quest.
