Meravì is the artistic name of Vincenza Luppino, an architect and visual artist who lives and works in Italy. Trained in architecture (graduating in 2006), she brings the discipline of architectural design to the canvas, approaching the pictorial surface as a space to be constructed rather than depicted. Industrial felt, plaster, mesh, jute, paper and acrylic pigments are folded, layered and lifted from the picture plane, producing reliefs and volumes in which light and cast shadow become constituent elements of the work. Central to her practice is red, conceived as a corporeal substance — blood, flesh, warmth, wound — from which her palette extends to orange, yellow, blue and black. Frequently conceived in dialogue or in sequence, her works investigate the body and its relations: wounding and healing, contact, protection and renewal. Her idiom situates itself within the lineage of post-war Italian material abstraction, from the extroflexions of Spatialism to the material poetics of Poor Arte, which she reinterprets through a distinctly contemporary sensibility. In 2026 she was selected for The Golden Ratio Art Exhibition II, curated by Eileen Contreras at Palazzo Ruspoli, Rome, within the framework of Rome Art Week. Further information on her work is available at www.meravi-art.com.
