DAI Tour – Imagine: Memory and Future

A walking tour of the art galleries within the DAI district

Duration: 3 hours

Curated by Stefano Tagliati

With the participation of Cosarte, PHZero, AreA M, Studio Roberta Pugno

The tour takes place within the Distretto Arte Immagine (DAI), a network of independent galleries and spaces established in the heart of historic Garbatella, a neighborhood deeply rooted in urban identity and visual culture.

Departure is at 10:00 a.m. from the AreA M Arte e Architettura gallery, located at Via G. Candeo 18, a place of research and interdisciplinary encounters between art and architecture. Here, visitors can visit "Traces of Tomorrow," an exhibition that analyzes the past and present as moments that leave indelible marks for the future, clues that open spaces for imagination, hope, and reflection.

The tour continues at Cosarte, Simona Goriani's exhibition space at Via Nicolò da Pistoia 18. This space unites the visual arts and is open to all artistic and cultural events. The exhibition "Proiezioni: Immagini tra Passato e Futuro" (Projections: Images between Past and Future) offers a reflection on the concept of Time as a flow of memories, images, and future projections.

The tour continues with a visit to Simona Gaffi and Daniele Signore's PHZero exhibition space at Via Anton Da Noli 20. The space is committed to promoting the contemporary and urban art scene. The "Still Can" project intertwines street art, urban memory, and sustainability. What was once waste becomes a narrative surface: the aluminum from used spray cans becomes a canvas, a gesture, and a testimony.

The final stop: the atelier of artist-philosopher Roberta Pugno, located at Via G. Benzoni 26, with the exhibition ""The Power of Imagination"" asks the following questions: What is the "imagination" that nature bestows upon us at birth, allowing a perceived reality, a sound, or an idea to become artistic images? How does the transition from internal time to external space occur?

DAI - Distretto Arte Immagine

In the heart of Garbatella, a historic Roman neighborhood established in the early 20th century according to the garden city model,DAIDistretto di Arte Immagine comes to life, a project that intertwines urban memory and contemporary creativity. In a context of over 43,000 inhabitants, Garbatella has transformed into a vibrant cultural ecosystem, becoming a hub for artists, galleries, universities, and an ever-evolving nightlife.

DAI was born from this fertile ground, as an organic response to a vocation already alive in the neighborhood's social and architectural fabric. By connecting many of the area's galleries, the District promotes visual culture through collective projects, multi-venue exhibitions, and synergies between independent spaces and institutions.

It's more than just a container: DAI is a driving force, a catalyst for local and international initiatives, engaging citizens and fostering dialogue between artists and the public.
