House-museum of Norwegian-American sculptor Hendrik Christian Andersen (Bergen, 1872-Rome, 1940), who lived in Rome from the late 19th century until his death. Building he himself had built and decorated starting in 1922 in eclectic neo-Renaissance style. On the ground floor are two large ateliers with the artist's works; on the second floor is his home.The museum houses the works of sculptor and painter Hendrik Christian Andersen. The collection of works (over two hundred large, medium and small sculptures in plaster and bronze; over two hundred paintings and over three hundred graphic works) is notable for its exceptionality being almost entirely centered around the utopian idea of a great "World City," destined to be the international headquarters of a perpetual laboratory of ideas in the fields of the arts, science, philosophy, religion, and physical culture.
