The NITIDO-Exhibition & Body Art project arose from an idea of Giorgia Loccarini, who in December 2023 opened her Gallery dedicated to Body Art in the Monteverde/Colli Portuensi neighborhood of Rome. NITIDO-Exhibition & Body Art is an exhibition space where the body is conceived as an expressive medium.
Inspired by the radical performativity of 1970s Body Art, the project disseminates its practices through unmediated interactions with the public. In NITIDO-Exhibition & Body Art the body stages itself as a performative and iconological subject capable of providing us with experiential redefinitions of the ontological sense of Art. In this sense, the art of tattooing, body piercing and body suspension, considered as performative expressions on a par with painting, sculpting and video-making, are contemplated in their performative dialectic infused with art, anthropology and show.
