DNA Abate (Di Notte Abate)

A project dedicated to Domenico Abate Cristaldi, Claudio Abate, Riccardo Abate

The project, developed in collaboration with the Claudio Abate Archive, is an investigation that reasons on the value of the artistic transmission that holds firmly the works of the painter Domenico Abate Cristaldi (1891-1949) and the photographic shots of Claudio Abate (1943-2017) generating an exhibition articulated on the theme of sense of belonging, history and photographic memory.

From this exhibition originates an intimate narrative born out of the need to unite and compare three generations of the Abate family, at the close of which a photographic work by Riccardo Abate (1975) will be on display.

The title of the exhibition is an acronym for the phrase Di notte Abate, born from Abate's habit of working at night to capture hidden energies and transpose them into photographic shots according to a visual experience where waiting and introspection were the quintessence.
