In dealing with the theme of love, to which everyone can ascribe any meaning he or she wishes, words alone are unable to give an adequate representation. Therefore, an exhibition was conceived in which the text-image combination, in the elaboration of a thought on this theme, frees within us those individual interpretive faculties useful for reflecting and developing our own idea about love. The exhibition presents a succession of scenarios, within which the works have been placed, that make us consider our experiences in the sentimental and affective field with new eyes. More than 200 works of art from different eras and backgrounds, some of which are not explicitly related to love, but stir the imagination and induce an easy process of identification, given the theme. The most important artists, among the contemporaries: Jeff Koons, Hermann Nitch, Paul Delvaux, Pablo Picasso, Massimo Campigli, Piero Castellani, Mimmo Rotella, Giosetta Fioroni while among those of the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries: Felicien Rops, Francesco Paolo Michetti, Filippo Falciatore, Bartolomeo Pinelli and others. As for archaeological artifacts, in addition to the 9 Paleolithic Venuses, 5 Gandhara sculptures from the 2nd century AD will be exhibited. An alternative overview to the stereotypical and homologizing view of a sentiment currently experienced with little awareness, through a body of works included in a chronological span from the third millennium B.C. to the 21st c.
