Presented as part of Rome Art Week, the exhibition project ‘Transient Metamorphoses (Forms, Materials, and Languages in Transit)’ reflects on the instability of the contemporary world and the shifting nature of the forms that inhabit it.
At the heart of this research lies the paradox of transformation itself: that which changes always leaves a trace within and around us, yet every resulting form is destined to remain transient, suspended in a constant state of becoming. The exhibition brings together the voices of artists working across diverse techniques and artistic languages, inviting them to engage with the concepts of precarious balance, memory, and impermanence.
Vethan Sautour’s artwork (Origami Gone – Moorean Viviparous Tree Snail) serves as the narrative’s conceptual anchor. Through an essential exploration of paper, the artist constructs minimal geometries that evoke lost organic forms, placing the subtle tension between visible presence and dissolution at the core of the work.
In immediate resonance with this inquiry, the contributions of the other works on display express a rich variety of artistic languages that create a continuous visual and formal dialogue. Expanding around this central axis, the exhibition unfolds through an open, choral exchange between different creative perspectives. The investigation into transience thus adapts to the plurality of mediums present: from sculptural matter to painting, from installation and paper-based elements to photographic surfaces. Each artwork becomes an autonomous piece of a shared reflection on the transformation of reality, where the density of matter alternates with the lightness of ephemeral elements, and the immediacy of figuration meets the suggestions of abstraction.
Spanning physicality and suggestion, the different works on display weave a fluid map of a world in constant motion, where the one true constant remains art’s ability to capture change in the precise moment it occurs. (Cristina Madini)
