Corrado Veneziano Open Studio

The power of the keys, obscured"—this is the opening line of a striking, ultra-short poem by Paul Celan, which continues (and concludes) as follows: "the tusk holds sway, since the Cretaceous, against the global instant." In our current historical moment—a time fraught with dangerous, police-state-like tensions (controls, surveillance, AI, the homogenization and rigidification of behavior and identity)—Celan’s warning is translated by Veneziano into an installation that is both stark and pervasive, surgical yet wild. On one hand, Veneziano will paint a large canvas (220 cm x 400 cm) live, depicting wild boars, rhinoceroses, and bison turned toward the viewer—as if lunging at them. On the other, the space will be symbolically reconfigured to evoke the confinement we endure daily in increasingly enclosed environments—spaces cynically labeled as "protected." Visitors will be required to navigate winding paths, cross through wire fencing, pass through turnstiles, and submit to facial recognition. The tusks in the painting—the destination of this journey—will emerge as something more immanent and essential. Something redemptive. "The power of the keys, obscured"—an open studio event by Corrado Veneziano, held at his atelier at Via Reno 18/a, on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
