The skin of form

The exhibition presents a selection of sculptures by Simona De Caro in iron and stoneware, brought into dialogue through formal and chromatic affinities. United by a strong attention to surface, the works explore the relationship between matter and color.

The skin of form

The Skin of Form brings together a selection of works by Simona De Caro, creating a dialogue between sculptures in iron, stoneware and fiberglass resin through a display shaped by affinities of form, surface and color.

The artist’s research begins with a practice rooted in automatic drawing, where line and color generate organic, fluid and essential forms. In the sculptures, these gestures become three-dimensional presences defined by sinuous curves, concave and convex volumes, and a strong tension between balance and instability.

At the core of the exhibition is the dialogue between different materials: on one side iron, subjected to oxidation processes and chromatic interventions that alter its skin and emphasize its transformative nature; on the other stoneware and fiberglass resin, materials that produce compact, smooth and sometimes glossy surfaces, enhancing the tactile and sensorial dimension of the works.

The exhibition creates visual and material correspondences between the works, revealing a shared sculptural language. Color becomes an element of connection, while the surface emerges as the place where form is fulfilled and revealed. In this encounter between different consistencies, weights and finishes, each sculpture appears as an autonomous body, animated by a vital tension between inner impulse and physical presence.
