Browsing through the book “Mauritanie. Le peuple du désert” is like retracing, together with the seven authors, their lived experiences in a personal and intimate journey that led them to encounter the vastness and diversity of this immense land, dominated by endless stretches of desert sand.
The true protagonist is indeed the desert itself, which has shaped the local people—from daily life to traditions—experienced by the authors through moments such as sharing tea inside their tents, or taking part in the Nomad Festival held every December at the gates of Chinguetti, guardian of ancient libraries and centuries-old manuscripts.
The seven authors of this splendid volume are (in alphabetical order):
- Andrea Del Genovese
- Brunella Martucci
- Elisabetta Tufarelli
- Luca Maiorano
- Roberto Gabriele
- Silvana Di Segni
- Simona Ottolenghi
The proceeds from the sale of the book will be entirely donated to the NGO Bambini nel Deserto ETS.
