AI Art and Classic Art Compared

Works of art between human creativity and artificial intelligence, ranging from abstract to hyperrealism, with touches of brutalism, mixed media and artificial intelligence. Curated by Antonio Lavorgna and Andrea Moraes.

The exhibition, curated by Antonio Lavorgna and Andrea Moraes, aims to compare classical art with the new artistic forms generated by artificial intelligence. The aim is to explore the influence of AI on the contemporary art scene, opening a debate between artists on concepts and philosophies that are useful to create an authentic connection between different styles, techniques and means of expression, in the service of imagination.

The exhibition will present material works made with mixed media, surrealism, brutalism, figurative abstractionism, and wax sculptures, alongside works created with artificial intelligence, projected on tablets.

The selected artists include:

Andrea Moraes (wax sculpture, Brazil)

Antonio Servillo (surrealism, Rome)

Massimo Francalanci (brutalism, Florence)

Chiara Meneguzzi (mixed media, Rome)

Federico Lacerna (abstract and figurative, Rome)

Antonio Lavorgna (AI artist, Sannio)

Irina Malina (AI artist, Belarus)

Valerio Calsolaro (AI artist, Lecce)

Carlos Pinto (AI artist, Lisbon)

Fabrizio Di Nardo (Wood and resin material artist, Rome)

Angelo De Grande (Digital artist, Milano)

In addition, the evening of 25 October 2024, from 18:30 to 21:00, will be dedicated to a debate on artificial intelligence, with the participation of Simone Rizzo, an engineer specialising in AI, who has in-depth expertise in the field. During the meeting, it will be possible to ask questions to clarify doubts and deepen AI-related topics.

Simone Rizzo is an expert in Artificial Intelligence with a Master's degree from the University of Pisa. He has a solid experience as an AI engineer in the field of computer vision for autonomous vehicles and focuses on model explainability and privacy in machine learning. He is the founder and CEO of Inferentia, a consulting firm specialising in Artificial Intelligence, offering customised AI services for different industries. He is also active in scientific research where he recently published a paper on a new attack on machine learning models called ALOA at the international NSS conference. He shares his passion as a science popularizer on TikTok, simplifying complex concepts and spreading awareness about AI to make this discipline accessible to everyone in the modern world.

Cristina Maymone, one of the organisers of the prestigious Stromboli Prize, will moderate the talk.

Cristina Maymone specialises in fundraising, institutional relations and event organisation. She holds a Master's degree in Charity Marketing and Fundraising from the Cass Business School of City University London, and a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome 'La Sapienza'. Since 2022 he has been a member of the Stromboli Prize Organising Committee, serving as Head of Institutional Relations and Public Funding Management.
At the University of Trento, he held the following positions:

- From 2017 to 2022, Head of the Fundraising Office.

- From 2013 to 2017, Head of International Institutional Relations.

Antonio Lavorgna: Visionary between Tradition and AI

Antonio Lavorgna, a multifaceted artist from Sannio, combines artistic tradition with digital innovation. A pioneer of art generated by artificial intelligence, Lavorgna has launched a collection of NFT with an environmental theme, exploring new frontiers without ever forgetting the roots of his artistic journey. His creations demonstrate how art can evolve into virtual realms, imagining a future in which museums could exist in entirely digital spaces.

Andrea Moraes: Sculpture as a Connection between Matter and Innovation.

Brazilian sculptor, Andrea Moraes is known for her ability to create three-dimensional forms using wax, creating works that explore human sensitivity. Her material art, placed dialogue with creations generated by artificial intelligence, demonstrates how the tangible and the digital can be mutually enriching. digital can enrich each other, offering a powerful reflection on tradition and innovation.
