Like a fairy tale
“Each of us has a fairy tale inside that we can't read on our own. He needs someone who, with wonder and enchantment in his eyes, reads it and tells it to him."
It is from the visionary mind, from the enthralling charisma of Francesco Leardini that the "Abracadown" project was born, the first magic musical in Italy which has led and will lead artists with Down syndrome to tread the scenes of some of the most prestigious theaters in Rome. A journey destined not to stop just at the Roman borders, but which will include new stages in which spontaneity, emotions and lots and lots of heart will be the driving force behind the shows. A journey where diversity is not contemplated, because on stage, as in life, everyone shows what they would like to be while the protagonists of Abracadown show their true soul, without pretending to be who they are not, without playing roles. This allows the creation of a scenic space where everyone does what makes them feel good, where magic deludes the spectator that the impossible is possible.
Abracadown thus magically transforms into that fairy tale that we all dream of, which tells of the beauty that lies in diversity, the essence, the unique identity that each of us possesses because in the end we are all wonderfully different.
Since its inception I have followed the genesis of the project, photographing the protagonists in a scenario that is not only artistic, capturing fragments of their everyday life where conviviality and light-heartedness reign supreme and where uniqueness and purity of soul shine unchallenged.
Many people in the world of entertainment, and not only that, decided right from the start to show their face by extolling the project through every means of communication. The kids feel supported and appreciated, their self-esteem increases and they show their abilities in a completely natural way.
The dream of those at the helm of the project is to open the Entertainment Academy where children with DS and cognitive disabilities will be able to attend and learn all the artistic professions they want for free.
"Like a fairy tale" wants to tell this dream. And dream with all of them.
