Biography
(Photography, like life, is a continuous becoming in which every single moment must be devoured with intensity).
Stefania Carraturo was born in Naples, spent her early childhood in Paris, a city with which she will always maintain a close bond, before finally settling in Rome, her adopted city. She graduated in Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures and dedicated herself to teaching French literature until a painful event led her to find a new expression of life in photography. He trains professionally at the IED following fashion and reportage, participates in street photography, portrait and lighting courses, attends annual masterclasses on photojournalism and the modern languages of documentary photography with internationally renowned photographers. She writes literary criticism articles for specialized magazines, loves to paint, draw and is a freelance photographer for an online information periodical.
In May 2023 she became the official photographer of the Abracadown theater company, a project that involves children with Down syndrome as protagonists of a magic musical.
Projects
Here comes the sun is a long-term project, in the social field, started in December 2019, about the boys of "La Locanda dei Girasoli" which describes the intimate and poetic universe of the protagonists. This project was the winner of photographic contests, a finalist and published in several specialized magazines. It has been on display several times, including on the occasion of the "Rome Art Week" 2023 edition.
Like a fairy tale it is a long-term project, started in 2023, from shots to the boys of Abracadown to give them the dream of becoming famous.
