Journey into the water, featuring works by Ennio Tamburi, curated by Roberto Lacarbonara in collaboration with Elena Biani.
ETworks Studio celebrates its fourth year of activity and returns to present a solo exhibition by Ennio Tamburi dedicated to one of the artist's most cherished and sought-after subjects throughout his long career as a painter: water.
"My direction," Tamburi noted in 2018, "is toward unfinished, fluid geometric forms, with the liquid matter of the colours left free to flow: I create boundaries on the paper, but I also like the shapes to pass by anyway, crumbling away. There is in this, I believe, a new sense of drama that has entered my life: in fact, water is also something that escapes. Like time.
For Tamburi, water takes on a symbolic and aesthetic value, not as an object of representation, but as a true condition of painting: a material that changes, flows, penetrates the surface and questions its boundaries. “Viaggio nell'acqua” (Journey into Water) begins with the 1988 watercolour of the same name and builds a path through works that, at different moments in his research, restore the centrality of this element, understood at times as landscape and memory, at others as a chromatic field, rhythm, transparency, and pure energy of matter.
