Movement is a constant in nature. Migratory birds remind us that the free movement across the planet is a necessary condition for survival.
Migration is never a trivial act; it inevitably carries with it memories of another place and the promise of a better tomorrow; it is in this tension that its deepest meaning is found. There is no migration without disorientation, without loss, without abandonment; nor is there migration without encounter, without courage, without hope. A migrant is a landless citizen of the world, a perpetual stranger in their own home.
"Avis Migrantis" brings together several dozen watercolors of migratory birds depicted on postcards, alongside the voices of émigré poets.
The exhibition itself is conceived as a traveling project, destined to grow with each new stop.
"Avis Migrantis" is a hymn to freedom of movement without race or borders, a tribute to those who carry their homeland in their pockets.
