Sara Davidovics Open Studio

The project *LA PRIMA PORTA* will be presented during the open studio: Spazio MODULO, a satellite unit and extended gallery - a roundtable discussion.

  1. LA PRIMA PORTA Spazio MODULO, a relocated unit and extended gallery: a roundtable discussion A piece of wasteland on the edge of the devastated city—wedged between public housing blocks, vegetable patches, and unauthorized chicken coops—became the site of an artistic intervention aimed at the imaginative creation of an urban garden, curated by artist Fabio Orecchini. Conceived as an absurd rain-making ritual, a rupture in meaning, and—simultaneously—a relocation and rooting extension of Sara Davidovics’s *Modulo* atelier, the action left a wooden gate planted in the ground: a "Prima Porta" (First Gate), a questioning, semiotic threshold opening the way to new interpretations. From this experience of reactivation and radical critique, a process has emerged to reimagine and redefine this forgotten space—this "third landscape"—bounded symbolically and urbanistically by the Tiber River, the GRA ring road, the Prima Porta cemetery, and Veio Park. For Rome Art Week, Spazio Modulo opens itself to collective reflection through a roundtable discussion, aiming to share ideas and projects for spreading artistic interventions and acts of creative transgression. It envisions an extended, decentralized gallery where eco-activism and land art merge with the arts and practices of care, relational engagement, and the reweaving of territory, memory, and community.
