On Saturday, October 10, the FABER art gallery presents BABELE, a solo exhibition by Keisuke Matsuoka.

The exhibition BABELE follows the exhibition Matsuoka held at the Mattatoio in Rome in the winter of 2025/26 and aims to present the evolution of the Japanese sculptor's research.

This offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in a work that is constantly evolving, yet maintains rigorous coherence and linearity.

Keisuke Matsuoka's entire investigation develops from simple questions: "what is the human being?" "what is sculpture?" and aims to discover the points of contact that bind each individual, to outline a figure of the universal human being.

Matsuoka's intense relationship with the idea of ​​contemporary sculpture is, in fact, the focal theme of the exhibition.

The works on display summarize the variety of the Japanese artist's experimentation; Wood, metals, ceramics, and the new red waxes are not just materials to be used technically, but represent the codes of a shared language to articulate anthropological, morphological, genetic, and spiritual notions.

The study of the language that simultaneously unites and divides us as a species recalls the concept of construction-destruction, central to all of Matsuoka's work; the recognition of sculpture as a common language overturns the canonical interpretation of the myth of the Tower of Babel and becomes an attempt and hope to identify the threads that connect and unite all human beings.

The exhibition highlights the artist's poetics, emphasizing both dramatic and lyrical aspects, sometimes highlighting individual sculptures, sometimes grouping them into compositional series, and sometimes surprising with the striking explosions on the walls.

I have the feeling that destruction and creation are two sides of the same coin, and that the beauty of sculpture lies precisely at the boundary.
