Craving Art – Art Gallery presents Dancing Rocks, a performance by Mirta Cocco that evolves from her research into selfies and images of her own shadows projected onto Paleozoic rocks.
In this new version, the artist invites the audience to enter the artwork and become part of a playful, synesthetic and multidimensional journey through the languages of body, music, poetry and visual art.
Participants are free to choose where, how and with whom they want to travel. Their shadows become the material for new frames, videos and selfies, creating a collective and primordial dance that crosses real and imagined boundaries.
Shadows, understood also as a metaphor for our own “shadow zones”, become tools for exploration and transformation. Rocks, perceived as insurmountable boundaries shaped by our fears and projections, are transformed into shifting surfaces, luminous flows and gateways to new dimensions.
The performance stems from Mirta Cocco’s research into the selfie not simply as a means of representation, but as a tool for introspection and self-discovery. Through improvisation and the interplay of different artistic languages, the artist explores identity and otherness, the individual and the collective, the real and the surreal.
“You are the artwork!” is the message at the heart of the performance: an invitation to play with one’s own image, move through one’s shadows and discover new possibilities for individual and shared creativity.
