Luisa De Marinis

Luisa De Marinis was born and works in Rome. She got a Bachelor’s degree in Art and performance arts at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. She studied for the Master at the University of Siena.

She is specialized on Italian post-war abstract art, with particular attention to researches on sign. She currently investigates the connections between art languages, analyzing the relationships between poetry, painting, theater, dance and photography. In this broad landscape of interest, she gives a special attention to experiments on paper. She curated exhibitions of visual art and photography, theater and dance events and video exhibitions.

In the Nineties she participated to various editions of Photogrammatica, international review of photographic art in Rome, following the researches of many young Roman artists, which emerged in the first edition of Rome’s photographic exhibition Tridente Fotografia in four Tridente’s Galleries. In the years from 2006 to 2015 she curated the photo exhibition Fotografia Festival Internazionale di Roma.

Since 2005 she is working at Rome’s MAXXI, the Italian Twenty-first century arts National Museum, which hosts also the National museum of Architecture. She gave her contribute to the opening of the Museum in 2010, in the sectors of video, events, conservation and documentation. As of 2010, she is responsible of the Conservation Unit of MAXXI Architecture.
