After 20 years in Belgium and Germany, I came back to Italy.
Now I live and work in Civitavecchia by Rome.
Since then I have worked on the project: ONE DRAWING PER DAY FOR A YEAR, a personal challenge that is a constant practice in my work, today.
Drawing is the most important form of my artistic knowledge.
In 2016, I created POWERDRAWING a school of contemporary drawing.
The theme of my research is the sign.
To identify the voice of the sign, its colour, its timbre.
I am always searching for a sign without pre-judgments, far from the support of reason, without fear.
An authentic and immediate sign, faithful to the truth (or at least spots of it).
A sign that is difficult to discover.
I have thought for years it was too simple, that behind my desire to make art there had to be something more elevated.
Today I can finally say that I have always drawn to get rid of the support, a rigid alteration of the ego, called “armour” by Wilhelm Reich, a pupil of Sigmund Freud.
I perceive all my work as a long series of ongoing investigations, in search of detecting evidence.
In more recent works I feel the need to move away from the realistic images
That could release unequivocal judgements on things and faces. My works are often figurative – moving bodies, portraits, self-portraits, architecture and cityscapes – but I am always interested in the dissolution of the subject.
I constantly question what I have already known, through a jump into the indeterminate, The unfamiliar, the strange always find a place somewhere in my drawings.
