Nicole Voltan was born in Mestre (Venice) in 1984. She graduated in Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In 2007, on the occasion of the 52nd Venice Biennial Art Exhibition, she worked as an assistant on the creation of the Wall Drawings by Sol LeWitt, entitled 1166 Light to Dark (scribbles) and 1167 Dark to Light (scribbles).    

Her first solo exhibition, Nel segreto di una valigia, was held in 2007 in Milan, at the Bertold Brecht Cultural Centre. In 2011 she debuted in Rome at the Whitecubealpigneto gallery with an exhibition entitled Sistema Entropia,during the 10th edition of the Festival of Photography promoted by MACRO (Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome). In 2013, once again at the Whitecubealpigneto, she held her second solo exhibition, 88 Trame. In the following year she presented an exhibition at the New Era Museum in Bari (together with the artist José Angelino) entitled Gas Stelle e Led. In 2016 she took part in Rome Art Week, with a project entitled Exalt the Past Survive the Future, held at her studio in the Pigneto district.

Collective exhibitions include: in 2008 CU/CM La città dell’uomo Abito & Habitat, an event running alongside the 11th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennial; in 2012, at Forte Marghera – Parco del Contemporaneo, she participated in Punti di Ancoraggio (Anchoring Points) / Ecology of Mind; in the same year she exhibited at the Sguardi Sonori Festival, in a collective exhibition entitled Gino on my mind at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona; once again in 2012 she participated in the collective exhibition SPAM! Cartoline d’artista, with a project entitled Pastificio_Lab at the Pastificio Cerere Foundation in Rome; in 2013 she participated in the collective exhibition, Essere io non ha misura organised by Factory Spazio Giovani di Roma Capitale, at the former Testaccio Slaughterhouse; she subsequently founded the Scala C group together with other artists with whom she presented the Open Studios, Gardens and Houses collective exhibition; in 2017 she has exhibited at the Transfusion#1 exhibition at the Archivio Menna-Binga in Rome; in the same year she participated in two collective exhibitions, Art più business uguale Love at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona, and Intreccio alla Rocca in Umbertide, Perugia.

In 2014 she was one of ten selected artists to earn a spot in the Dancity Festival Gateway at Palazzo Candiotti in Foligno.       In 2016 she received an honourable mention for her Bridge Art Contemporary Visions artistic residency which took place at La Favola estate in Val di Noto, south-eastern Sicily.

She has created two permanent installations, Muri Dipinti (Wall Paintings) at Gavazzana in the province of Alessandria, and Dare Senso ai luoghi, SAC Mari tra le mura resulting from an artistic residency at Mola di Bari, promoted by the Pino Pascali Foundation.
