Caterina Pecchioli is a visual artist and director. She graduated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and at the DAMS University (MA in Visual Arts, Cinema, Music and Performing Arts Studies) in Bologna. Her film, videos, performances, photo projects, are focus on identity, territory and social issues. Since 2003 her work has been presented in many festivals, art institutions and museums around the world. She is co-funder of the art collective and platform Nation25 (www.nation25.com), that works with refugees in the art field, and that organizes the "Nationless Pavilion" in the context of the Venice Biennale. From 2011 she is taking part in the organization of the Goleb, an indipendent art-run space in Amsterdam (https://projectgoleb.wordpress.com). Recent exhibitions and screenings include: Istanbul Biennal - Biennale di Venezia - AuditoriumArte, Parco della Musica, Roma - Centro Internazionale di fotografia, Palermo - Parc de la Villette, Parigi - MACRO, Roma - Festival dei Popoli, Firenze - Short Sharp, Seoul - Instant VideoFestival, Marsiglia – MAAM, Roma - Triennale di Milano – Fondazione Studio Marangoni, Firenze – Contemporanea Festival, Prato – Forum of Live Art, Amsterdam - Arti et Amicitiae, Amsterdam - SPE Tenuta Dello Scompiglio a Lucca - Filmtheater ‘t Hoogt, Utrecht - Ikono Tv - Arte Tv. She was secretary of the Thami Mnyele Foundation, the artist run space that promotes the exchange of art and culture between Africa and the Netherlands. She is often invited to give workshops and lectures in Art Schools and Univestity in Italy and The Netherlands. She published some articles on peformance, video art and photography in collaboration with the DAMS of Bologna and the University of Siena.
