Domitilla Verga – Biography & Exhibitions
Born in Rome, January 30, 1965
I live between Rome and the medieval village of Fossanova Abbey (province of Latina), where for many years I have been working in event organization, art, and creative catering.
I have been writing and painting as a self-taught artist since childhood, with greater intensity over the past ten years.
From the age of nineteen until twenty-nine, I embarked on a stylistic adventure in fashion, designing my own line, “Quadretti e Righine”, which included women’s clothing, children’s wear, and home accessories.
For eight years in Fossanova, I created and designed furnishing objects for my workshop “Cose di Borgo”, inspired by family photographic archives and by the reuse of local reclaimed materials.
2010–2017 – Professional cooking instructor, Fondazione Il Faro di Susanna Agnelli
2013–2017 – Student at the art school “La Campanella” of master Mauro Iori, hosted at Le Opere di Piero Alegiani Gallery in Via del Panìco, Rome. Exhibited in several group shows at the collaborated on Mauro Iori’s collective project for the refurbishment of the meeting hall at LUISS University in Rome.
2015 – Writing school Omero in Rome, led by Enrico Valenzi and Paolo Restuccia. From this experience, short stories were born, along with my beloved Sette Mignocche.
I mainly work with acrylic and oil, but I experiment with different materials and supports—canvas, wood, paper—using collage, sewing, and mixed assembly techniques, while also embracing digital art.
I am strongly drawn to intimate atmospheres, inanimate objects, deserted interiors, as well as the gestures and impulses of the human body, captured in suspended moments that become the eternal anticipation of change. I tend to reuse materials and overlap techniques and layers, attempting to convey the emotions that inspire my works.
