Writer, stage photographer, children's book illustrator, and Carturist.
She graduated in law and practiced law for 15 years, while also dedicating time to art, which she cultivates in all its forms.
In 2018, she abandoned her profession and devoted herself fully to her passions.
She has published three books: Le rose di Gerico (2017), Imperial 290 (2018), and Le cose possono finisce senza conclusionersi (2025).
For six years, she was the stage photographer for the Gravina di Catania International Classical Music Festival.
She also illustrates children's books and collaborates with the Mondomusicale music school in Catania.
In 2017, she learned the Carturist technique for working with papier-mâché at Alfredo Guglielmino's historic art workshop, Cartura. But only in 2023 did he put his experience to good use and begin his activity of creating conceptual works.
Babirūh is the stage name that distinguishes his artistic activity.
"Babirûh is a name born of Love: Babi, a nickname coined by my younger siblings, a diminutive of Barbara, and rûh, which means "soul" in Arabic, in the most romantic sense of the term, meaning "breath" of being. A combination of beauty and childlike wonder. Hence the idea for the trademark.
Love, almost maternal, also characterizes the creation of my works, so much so that I call them Creatures.
Every birth is conceptual and starts from an image captured in reality, in a memory, or in a dream, and sometimes it's impossible for me to distinguish where the inspiration comes from.
From that moment on, it's the paper that guides me, dry paper that I shape, but according to the meaning and direction it indicates to me. My hands are lent to a design that is already present in another dimension. The materials I use are all recycled and seem to have been preserved precisely to give life to the Creature that from time to time decides to to be born.
While I work, they tell me their story.
They are slender and angular, beautiful in their imperfection. Their eyes are always closed because they live halfway between dream and reality. Like me.
