Nicola Bryam Portuguez Orè A visual artist whose research develops primarily through ballpoint pen drawing. The human body is at the center of his practice, observed and reinterpreted through a meticulous line—a weave of marks, textures, and details that alter its perception.
My figures appear isolated in space, suspended and devoid of a defined context. The surrounding void becomes an integral part of the artwork, creating a tension between presence and absence, movement and stillness, individuality and connection.
Through a patient and detailed technique, I transform the body into a surface to be explored, where the anatomical dimension intertwines with a more instinctive and symbolic component. The figures do not merely attempt to represent the body, but rather to speak of its inner dimension: fragility, distance, transformation, and connection.
Often immersed in vast empty spaces, the figures are not accompanied by a single, unambiguous explanation: the work remains open to the gaze and interpretation of the viewer.
