Mariia Plekhova is an artist who has developed a personal abstract style based on two fundamental concepts: color and movement. Impulsivity, speed, calmness transform into luminous reflections, taking shape.
Mariia is convinced that the union between technology and art has a great future. She explores the possibilities of virtual reality and creates hybrid paintings at the intersection of two realities using VR technologies. Art combined with virtual reality technology is a novel field, with not many artists currently engaged, and Mariia Plekhova is one of the pioneers.
Mariia studied sculpture and painting at an art lyceum in Sicily. She is currently continuing her creative development in Rome as a student at LUMSA University, also she is studying contemporary art online at Oxford University's Department for Continuing Education.
Mariia’s artistic activity is not limited to a single country. She has held exhibitions and projects in Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, and Russia. She has participated in 15 exhibitions, including 9 solo exhibitions Mariia's works have achieved considerable success and are found in private collections worldwide. One of her hybrid works is part of a collection that includes pieces by Picasso, Mattotti, and Modigliani. Artist’s film «Сreatore» created with the use of artificial intelligence, was awarded at the Italia Media Art festival and was presented at the 60th Venice Biennale.
Mariia is convinced that art is a profound concept with a social function. For this reason, the artist has made publications in scientific journals, participated in scientific conferences, including TEDxLUMSA (technology, entertainment, design). Mariia has carried out various social projects: the "On the edge of reality" project, aimed at acquainting Portuguese students with virtual reality technologies; the "Clean Slate" project, which involves children with disabilities in artistic activities; and the "There is a Choice!" project, which conveys the importance and awareness of our food choices. Mariia has collaborated with many scientific institutions and companies, such as Exness, Fernando Pessoa University, Aurelio Cultural Center (Rome), Netcracker, the Institute of Phytopathology, Lobachevsky State University.
The artist has been invited to television programs and radio broadcasts in Italy, Portugal, and Russia, where she promotes the benefits of art. Mariia has an important mission: to draw public attention to the development of creative abilities in both children and adults.
For four years, Mariia has been organizing creative workshops for children and adults. Her motto is "Creativity in the present, success in the future!" Already, more than 500 people of different nationalities have participated in her workshops.
