From his father, a cabinetmaker, he learnt his first steps in the use of chisels and the nature of different woods: from the hardness of boxwood to the complex and fragrant structure of olive to the fascination of pink for pear, red for mahogany and the yellow-brown of walnut. This is but the beginning of the transition from the love of wood to stone and from drawing to etching. Work occupied a large part of his life, but during this course he did not lose his interest in the art of sculpture and drawing to which he associated his study of anthropology in the faculty of sociology. Late in life, he attended an etching course, continuing to put into practice his never-abandoned dream of engraving, hence his first private exhibitions: three of which two at Canale Monterano and one at Trastevere, then a collective at the gallery of a social centre at the Piramide and, since 2018, all the exhibitions he has participated in with the Oxford Collective.
