Ecomuseo Laurentino

The Laurentino Ecomuseum is our way of taking care of the PLACE where we live in its context with the consciousness of being part of a whole. Our "ECOMUSEO," as provided for by Lazio Region Law 2017 No. 3 (of which we were promoters), has no walls but is in the open air. It does not take cultural goods away from the places where they were created, but is proposed as a tool for the local community to reappropriate its cultural heritage; it is not only a place of protection and preservation, but a space where the community of inhabitants becomes aware of its past; it does not coincide with a particular area - it is not a park to
meaning - but it is the entire territory of the community living there. And since one does not appreciate what one does not know, the discovery of the value of places and their special character (Genius Loci) is the first step in a strategy aimed at the well-being and vitality of a local community because indifference to one's own land is the beginning of civil, economic and social decline.
The Laurentino Ecomuseum is inspired by the principles of the European Landscape Convention adopted by the Council of Europe in 2000 and ratified by Italy in 2006. In the European Landscape Convention we find indicated methodologies of protection and enhancement, but also actions aimed at participation, recovery, education and care of what surrounds us daily that are the same as those of the ECOMUSEO LAURENTINO.
The European convention recognizes that landscape is a common good in that it is an important element for "the quality of life of citizens in urban areas and in the countryside, in territories of great quality, but also in degraded ones, in areas considered exceptional as well as in those of everyday life." Landscape is an important resource for the social and economic development of a population "because it can also contribute to job creation."
