Associazione Culturale GIGA
GIGA (Italian Group of Young Artists) aims to be a free laboratory of ideas, a territorial observatory on the emergent artistic experimentation. In addition, every year we propose a "focus" on art movements or artists of the last century, in order to establish a dialogue between the past and the current generations' ideas. As an open structure, GIGA wants to give space to other forms of art as well, such as design, publishing, independent cinema.
Data and contact details

The Cultural Association GIGA, Gruppo Italiano Giovani Artisti was founded in December 2005, and is located in Rome, 43a Via del Governo Vecchio.GIGA aims to be a sort of free laboratory of ideas, a territorial observatory on emerging experimentation: through the exhibitions we propose, we try to stimulate a dialogue between a city with a strong historical identity, such as Rome, and artists and operators linked to contemporaneity who reveal through their works innovative and energetic ideas. The space is proposed as a kind of "artist-run space," in that in our intentions we would like to leave as much space as possible for artists and their initiatives, ideas and projects, while maintaining a certain identity; an open space that proposes cultural initiatives of a certain breadth and depth, including through "focus" exhibitions with historicized artists who have had a decisive influence in modern-day art and creativity.

Our focus is mainly addressed to themes related to society, the everyday and generally to the different fields of human knowledge and action (anthropology, politics, natural sciences..), themes that will be proposed in the exhibitions scheduled for the coming year: in a world in which information has become universal, fast, within everyone's reach at any time and in any place, we believe it is important to re-establish the fundamental capacity of art to deepen, question, unhinge, in order to create new and unexpected cognitive short-circuits. We prefer works, no matter the type of artistic medium, that tell a story, that of man in his being and acting. We promote and enhance the work of artists and practitioners of different registry and territorial backgrounds, the interaction between them; but as an open structure, GIGA wants to give space not only to visual art, but also turn its attention to other art forms such as design, publishing, independent cinema.
