The Instituto Cervantes is the Public Institution created by Spain in 1991 to disseminate the Spanish language and culture of the Hispano-speaking countries, as well as the co-official languages of Spain. In its activities, the Instituto Cervantes is basically concerned with the linguistic and cultural heritage common to the countries and peoples of the Hispano-speaking and Ibero-American communities. The Instituto Cervantes is present in 86 cities scattered in 45 countries on five continents. Its Headquarters is located in Madrid and has a branch office in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid).
